Today (22nd August 2026), the Department of Biotechnology, Srimad Andavan Arts and Science College, successfully conducted a One-Day Doorstep Awareness Programme integrating the Indian System of Medicine on the occasion of World Mosquito Day (20th August) at Appathurai, Esanakorai, and Angarai villages.
Nearly 160 households benefited from the awareness programme. Our Biotechnology UG and PG students actively visited the households and distributed awareness notices.
The programme focused on creating awareness among the rural community regarding mosquito-borne diseases, mosquito breeding sites, prevention and control measures, environmental sanitation, personal protective measures, and the importance of traditional Indian approaches for health and disease prevention.
The programme also provided our students with a valuable opportunity to interact with the community and apply their academic knowledge towards public health, environmental sanitation, and disease prevention.
The programme was successfully completed with active involvement of our students and a good response from the rural community.
We sincerely express our heartfelt gratitude to our Management, Secretary and Correspondent, Advisor, Principal, Senior Vice Principal, Vice Principals, Deans, and Heads of Departments for their constant encouragement, guidance, and unwavering support, which contributed significantly to the smooth and successful execution of event.
