Today, the Department of English organised the fortnightly literary gathering, “Scholar Gypsies Lit Cafe,” on the theme “Green Literature Today” in the Herbal Garden.
The programme sought to foster ecological consciousness and encourage students to engage with literature through an environmental and experiential perspective. Dr. M. Pitchaimani, Principal; Dr. R. Krishnan and Dr. V. Upendran, Vice Principals; Dr. V. Raman, Dean of Arts; and Dr. M. Jayachandran, Head of the Department of English, delivered insightful addresses highlighting the relevance of Green Literature, ecological responsibility, and the importance of cultivating an eco-friendly campus.
As part of the literary presentations, Mr. R. Kaviya Priyan of II M.A. English presented Mark Antony’s Eulogy from Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. The programme also featured a captivating Green Poetry Recitation by the III B.A. English students and II M.A. English students. In addition, the students actively participated in engaging memory games based on grammar and literature, demonstrating their literary awareness, linguistic competence, and enthusiasm for experiential learning.
We express our sincere gratitude to the Management, the Secretary and Correspondent, the Principal, the Senior Vice Principal, the Vice Principals, and all the faculty members for their continued support and for fostering an academic environment that encourages interactive, experiential, and interdisciplinary learning.
Thank you.
