Fire and Safety Awareness Programme


Today (29.06.2026), the National Service Scheme (NSS) of Srimad Andavan Arts and Science College (Autonomus) organised a Fire and Safety Awareness Programme in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services Department. 
The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness among students about fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and rescue techniques. 
The programme began with a warm welcome to the dignitaries, faculty members, and students.
Our beloved Principal, Dr M. Pitchaimani, gave a brief introduction to fire and safety in his inaugural address.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Mr L. Sahayaraj and his team, who served as the Chief Guest and keynote speaker.
In his Keynote address, Mr L. Sahayaraj and his team highlighted the importance of fire safety in everyday life and employment opportunities for the fire service department.
He stressed that awareness, quick decision-making, and proper knowledge of safety measures can save lives and reduce property damage during emergencies. 
He encouraged NSS volunteers to become responsible citizens by spreading fire safety awareness in their communities.
The technical session was conducted by officers from the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services Department. They explained the common causes of fire accidents at homes, educational institutions, workplaces, and public places. 
The officers emphasised the importance of following safety rules, maintaining electrical equipment properly, and avoiding careless handling of flammable materials.
One of the major attractions of the programme was the live demonstration session. They demonstrated rescue techniques for evacuating injured persons from dangerous areas and providing basic first aid.
More than one hundred NSS volunteers and faculty members actively participated in the programme. The participants gained practical knowledge and confidence in responding to fire emergencies. The interactive demonstrations helped them understand the importance of remaining calm, following safety procedures, and assisting others during emergencies.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks.
At this juncture, we express our sincere gratitude to our  Secretary and Correspondent, Advisor, Principal, Vice-Principals, Deans, Heads of Departments, and Faculty Members for their constant support and guidance in making this programme a success.
